Social event: A walk on the hills

A walk on the hills that surround Florence

At the end of the conference, those who wish can participate in a walk through some of the most fascinating places in Florence.

The walk is suitable for all abilities (just make sure you wear comfortable trainers rather than high heels) and has a total length of about 10 km with an elevation gain of around 100 m.
It departs from Porta San Niccolò (see the map below), which is 30–40 minutes from the conference venue by bus. Take bus No. 23 from the “Del Prete – Guidoni” stop to the “Serristori – Piazza Poggi” stop.

From Piazza Poggi, we will move away from the historic centre by climbing up the hills to the south, passing through some of the city's most fascinating (and least visited) places. On the way back, near the end of the tour, we will reach Piazzale Michelangelo, which boasts one of the most famous views of the city.

The walk takes about four hours, allowing enough time to enjoy it fully.
You can also interrupt the walk at the halfway point, in the Poggio Imperiale area (see the map below). From there, you can reach the railway station or the airport by public transport in 30 or 60 minutes, respectively, or by taxi in 15 or 25 minutes, respectively.

Join us — you won't regret it!
